I thought i would share these photos on piece of jade i found while diving . I found this piece in january after a large winter swell i have been polishing it ever since. It took a 65 hours to complete. It had a ugly olive green rind on it, you never know what lies below the surface. I used a mk grinder with diamond flex pads to polish it. Tony

Oooooooooo Tony, that's gorgeous. 65 hours ... amazing! Hope this doesn't sound stupid but I'm assuming there's different grits to these flex pads, how many different stages or grits did you use. You got a beautiful shine on it.

Tony-
Awesome stuff. You really know how to get after it don't you. I'm just amazed at some of the neat things you are pulling outta the ocean!!!! You're getting to a lot of the stuff regular people can't. Good job. Actually, that 45 pounder is small compared to some of your other finds isn't it?

Nice boulder Tony! Did you use your stainless steel sink grinder to do that or is it just so big that you use portable tools on it? Obviously I don't know what a mk grinder is. Thanx for showing the boulder to us. Joe

Boy, that's pretty, Tony. I bet it has extra value to you because you dragged it out of the ocean yourself. Like the others said, what do you do with such pieces. And what about smaller pieces? Do you tumble any or is it too soft for the tumbler? matt

Wonderful! The reflections off the top of the BOULDER in the top photo remind me of flowing water, which seems quite appropriate since it came from the sea.

Blue jade is the hardest to find among the nephrite found on the big sur coast. This photo doesn't do it justice as it really does look blue up close. I found this one in jan this year and couldn't wait to polish it, i did it on my spare time. I used a hand held MK 1502 diamond polisher with diamond flex pads up to 8000 grit. I gave this one to my brother, i have given each of my family members a polished jade boulder ( 7 ). I am now working on a 138 pound apple green piece of jade i found 3 years ago while diving, i will attach a photo. Tony

Diamond flex pads work great with smooth surfaces. If your geode is bumpy you can first grind it down with a hard diamond disc. There are many brands for the flexiable pads, i buy them off a friend of mine and pay around 12 dollars a pad ( not sure of the name brand). The higher quality ones goes for 25 to 50 a piece. If your interested about buying some i can get you in touch with him, just send me a p.m. Tony
