Evening all, Here is a serie of pics of a piece of jasper found by my eldest son a while back. My second eldest helped to shape the base to fit the main part onto. My old mate Bill Simmonds put the shine on as I could not get it right. At last I put the 2 pieces together today with some 2 part glue ( Bostik epoxy glue) as seen standing in the window sill showing the shine with flash the colour shows better side on view back of the rock It was quite a rounded shaped rock and a bit tricky to get it cut with the saw. Enjoy Jack

that is a cool thing, i wonder how hard it would be to figure out how to engrave a symbol or text heading, would make great garden art. great collaboration, Jack! beautiful stone, too. you could make little pedestle stands too....interesting possibilities!

Cool Jack, thanks for sharing. I like KD's idea of pedestle stands - could also cut again and make a couple of bar stool seats - great conversational pieces

Very cool, Jack. How big is the diameter of that thing? What kind of saw do you have? Love your window sill -- it's as pretty looking in your window as looking out! matt

That's really neat, I like it! It's got beautiful color to it, do you have some small pieces now to polish up for Jeannine to wrap? What's the little thing to the left of it? Looks like spring down under is treating you to some beautiful color, are those daffodils blooming in the yard? I'm so jealous, it snowed this morning but didn't stay. I'm not looking forward to winter this year at all. Thanks Jack those are great pics as always.

Nice job, Jack! I also love the "brain" in front of it, in the first two pictures.

diameter is between 11 and 12 cm or a bit over 4 inches, thicknes of standing slab is 4 cm or a bit under 2 inches brains is a piece of coral I picked up in Malaysia.
Yellow flowers are tulips and no , not from Amsterdam haha. We had cold weather here too and the mountains are again full of snow, it was rather cold 2 days ago with icy rain and numbed fingers from washing tumbled stones. Now we have had another 2 nightfrosts.
I am off now to a sale of rocks of an old rockhound who has passed away. Will be away for 2 days.
Have a great time all and thanks very much for all your comments.

Wow, that looks like a project in the making. You could take suck things and add an inscription or picture and go all over the place with that. Or offer it up to a company that inscribes that kind of thing. Great idea!

That is wonderful Jack. It looks like a small computer or TV but the picture is a lot nicer! Joe

Jack-
That's just beautiful. How long did it take to get the nice shine?
