I was shopping at full moon auctions and there was a listing for a piece of Rocky Butte that was clearly not. I liked the colors and pattern, so I bid on it and won the auction. It was invoiced as Mescalero. The piece arrived yesterday. It may be Mescalero but if so very atypical. The colors and density are good but Mescalero is brecciated and this is not. I cut 3 slabs and laid out some preforms. I messaged altamont who mines Mescalero, Blue Dream and has a lot of Nevada material to see if he can ID it.

I split the heel and re-split with the trim saw. Piece cost $15 with shipping and it yielded 5 preforms.
