Nice pics/picks!
I like the looks of those but I have my doubts about the red one with light specks at the very bottom... It looks like a conglomerate & it may be a bit challenging to get a full shine on. Hope they work out good for you!

You have some really cool patterns on to rocks. I know I'm always drawn to unusual stripes, spots and bands. Hope they shine up really well for you.

My thoughts exactly, some very cool designs and markings. Hoping they take a good shine too, can't wait to see the pics.

I like the brown rock with the outlined circle in the middle, with all the wavy / crazy lines coming out of it

hey lcars, no i don't think the red w/ specs will either but the other one at bottom w/ specs I thought the same thing and now i think it will. I'll give a little more time and see.

I only said that because I tried a stone like that & it didn't take a shine for me no matter what I did. The red stuff is to soft, porous, sedimentary or whatever but just doesn't polish at any rate. The white bits get shiney so if that's the effect you are going for it will still look neat when it's done! I would just worry a little about how it may affect the other stones in the load but then again, i'm always a bit paranoid Oh-ya, after rereading my original post I wanted to make a kerekshun... I meant to say "concretion" instead of "conglomerate". The other stone you are talking about is a conglomerate & will probably shine up decently, the red stone with white specks is a concretion & that will probably be trouble. Most of the conglomerates I have done come out shiny with lines in between that give the stone a fractured look but still, unique & quite nice!

Lcars,
Pulled the red w/ white spots out and put back in jar. Shaped up nicely, got smooth but was too porous and was getting eaten up pretty fast also. Live and learn - thanks for the heads up before it wasted away trying to get a shine on it.

That checker board rock is really neat. Isn't mother nature great. Tami
