This is my second batch of rocks. I have a 18pd Vibe tumbler in which I'm running rocks I picked up and nothing I bought so I'm not expecting to get anything incredible - like Jawjr's obsidian result (from his obsidian thread) but...
I finished a 500 grit polish in a vibratory tumbler last night. I did a twenty minute run with water and dawn soap at the end - I used bar Ivory soap on my first batch without any issues but had dawn dish washing liquid sitting around and so I used it.
It was late so I cleaned everything out and left the rocks sitting in water overnight so I could verify the bowl was perfectly clean this morning. I got everything going this morning and the polish took really quickly which I wasn't expecting since I put 3 oz's instead of 4.
I do remember there was one rock that seemed slimy when I was putting them in the tumbler and I'm thinking I got distracted while cleaning it because before I ran out for an appointment 45 minutes later, I checked the rocks and there were suds -quite a few of them. I spent so much time cleaning the bowl, I'm thinking I didn't rinse all or at least that one rock off well enough. When I came home a few hours later, everything looked great again. No more suds and the polish looks like it's has a great coating on all of the rocks.
Do you think I need to wash everything out and start the polish stage again or do you think it will be fine?
I'm going to let them run until Sunday afternoon and I don't want to find out it was all wasted time because the soap screwed up the polish but then polish looks so good I have a hard time believing there's a problem.
Thanks for any advice.
