I don't think so, but you might be able to confirm by seeing the details with a jeweller's optic. Cool rock and I see faux animal shapes in it.

Flints and chert can have fossils in them but the figures in your stone don't fall in the realm of fossil traces that I would expect, unless the curved arches are sections of shells. Cut it and look in side! Never fall in love with your rock so much that it keeps you from finding its true potential (so saith the sages).

Oh, I am dying to do something with it - it definitely would be a good one to cut. I find crinoid fossils everywhere here - that's kind of more what I thought when I looked at the parallel lines and the wispy, curved lines. In the cut area, you'll notice kind of waterdroplet shapes. I don't know what causes that pattern, but I see those quite a lot on rocks around here. I jokingly call them fossilized sperm. Anyway, it is a cool rock, and it must be cut!

Wow. The innards are quite different from the crust. Looking at the crust, I was thinking, “are you sure it’s not granite?”
Can’t help with the ID. Sorry.

I found another similar rock in my backyard yesterday - I like those swirls!

The swirls could be fossils. Shells or worms.

fernwood - that second one really does look worm-like. Here's another completely different "wormy" fossil I found in my backyard a couple weeks ago:

Looks like chert to me. I saw a good bit in glacial gravels and it had the same colors and inclusions as your sample.
