Stopped by the local rock related yard sale today. First, talk about rock garden envy. The face polished rock is about 14" wide and extra beautiful. Dunno if you can see them, but there are polished T-egg and agate slices in the garden. Slabs I purchased. Ammonites. Some with pyrite and/or other metal(s). Carved critters. Crystals. Large tumbles. A friend asked me to get some of these for her. The tables did not have as much as usual, but I think it was worth the trip. The sale will be open through Tomorrow, so if you are in Central WI and want to stop by, I can PM address. The tables are usually stocked several times per day.

Who thinks placing a carved dino on top of a coprolite slab would look cool? I might do this when I can go to a show again. It would be a great conversation starter, especially with children.

Yes on the dino on dino poo! I think it's awesome you have the opportunity to go to this place as often as you do. They seem to have a pretty steady supply of really awesome material!

Hope to find more carved dino's in the future. I can see an entire herd of dino's sitting on slabs of coprolite and petrified dino bone. I can only imagine how large this entire collection is. Will be sad when it is all sold.

I’d also suggest a decorative raisin just for fun (and to see if that helps the kids make the connection). 😀

I'd use the raisin...and then when I was describing what everything was to the kids, I'd pick it up and eat it...just to gross them out! LOL

Going back today to see what has been added to the sale. Photos show additional tables/items (like there were not enough already) with more treasures to be found.
There are some specific items I want to check out.
I will remain focused I will remain focused I will remain focused

I could easily spend over $50.00 there and bring home way too many items. Will be picking up the motor and spare parts for the cabbing machine I purchase a few weeks ago.
All of a sudden, some friends have asked me to get some more specific things for them. I buy the items and they pay me for them.
I have a budget for my items and I will stick to it. Well, maybe, unless there is something spectacular I cannot live without. Or, if there are enough nice slabs to put together a RTH fundraising auction.
Will do a report with photos later.

Arrived at sale with perfect timing. The owner was unloading his car. I had never met him before. We talked a lot. Good news is that I stayed under budget, including items I was purchasing for friends. Owner gave me this "knife" He said the stone is dino bone from SW WI. He collected it during a dino bone dig with a lapidary club. Thompsonite. Collected by person who hosts the rock sales. Some for others. Some for me. Found a few more carved dino's. Ammonites Small slabs Large slabs Misc. I was able to get credit for a couple pieces of Graveyard Point and AZ pet wood I brought. Picked up the cabbing machine motor and some spare parts. Joe has more spare parts he needs to find. Saw a mother and child stop by. They are return customers/neighbors. The girl loves rocks and had fun putting together a free bag of rocks. Her older sister even stopped by and took a bag of rocks. I think there are enough slabs from 7-9 and 7-11 for me to put together a SFRB for a RTH/Pro-Boards benefit auction. Will try to get that done in the near future.

While I was there the Mother/Daughter decided to purchase the two large boxes of Amethyst Crystals. There must have been close to 100 clusters in the boxes.

Carved dino on top of a coprolite . I Made about 75 of those for a club show about 10 years ago. Everyone who entered a display case got one. They were a big hit. We got 7 styles of carved dinos in Tucson and slabbed and polished the coprolite. It was someone else idea but I ended up putting them together. I think I still have a set somewhere. The kids loved them.
I need to spend a day and learn how to post photos. I am a retired geologist with way to many rocks.
