Well, After 4 unsuccesful attempts and one ugly point finished, I finally got me a point that I'm proud of. This Flint Knapping is tough stuff! I still don't honestly know how I got this point to come out, but it turned out pretty good. Now for the bad news....I was going to get it wire wrapped today. I took it down to a friend to ask him to wire wrap it, and I accidentally dropped in on the concrete in his work shop, and it broke! This really pissed me off, and almost made me start to bawl! I was almost ready to beat my head through the wall! This is quite upsetting...it took me quite a few days to get this point done, and I guess I'll have to start a new one. At least I got pics of it beforehand. Thanks for looking...if I get another point finished, I'll post pics. Steve

Excellent looking arrow Steve. I am so sorry to hear of it's fate. That truly bites. I'm sure the next one will be faster to make and even better! Keep at it. Joe

Steve, That blows! Did at least ONE of them survive? Bhudda teaches another rock hound an important lesson in impermanence...

Steve-
Man that bites. You've done it once, you'll be able to do it again. The pictures are awesome though. Those are really cool. You should be proud of 'em.

Awww Steve, I'm sorry and it was a beauty too. Did it bust in small pieces or in half? Can you glue it so at least you still have it? That's just sad, I'm really sorry ... I would have cried for sure.

I droped a slab taking it out of the saw and it split in half so I know how you feel I have also put a piece of carpet in front of my bench so "hopefully" it won't happen again. Your work is looking good, practice will make you work better and faster -- now get back to work

Thanks everybody, I wouldn't have felt nearly as bad if the ugly one would've fallen and broke, but it was my better one. (the one on the right) It didn't break into pieces, just broke it off towards the top. It won't sop me from doing another one, because things do happen. I'll just be a little more careful next time. It's still upsetting, being it was my `1st decent point. Oh well...what ya gonna do?!? Steve

Great authentic looking points Steve. You must be a natural or something. My first points looked awful compared to those.
Sometimes the rock Gods take a sacrificial offering. Personally, I break quite a few in the notching stage. It's like you've came all this way, and done everything perfect, just to snap the piece in two... Just keep crackin' and before long, what did take days to make will only take hours.

Bummer- But the rock gods do take the sacrifice! I've had a few cabs bust on me- I usually toss it in the tumble box and say a few very choice words-
