Got off to a very late start for the 2021 slabbing season. Didn't get around to the first slice until mid June!
Here are some of the slabs that have come off the saw so far this year. All slabs are shown wet in a shallow pan of water.
First 2 pics are rainbow obsidian. This is the 1st time I've tried slabbing rainbow or sheen obsidian. Hard to capture the color in a picture. I don't know if I've maximized the rainbow effect but I think I did ok.

I found this 1/4 of a nice mossy thunderegg in a bucket so I sliced it up. Too bad it was only a 1/4. If it was a half it would be over 6 inches across and would have made a great face polished specimen.

This was a heel that I managed to get 2 more slices from. It is about 4 x 5 inches. Don't know what it is, but I love all the dendrites and the lace like fortifications.

These next 2 pics are from the same piece of rough. One end was all brecciated red and slowly morphed to what you see in the 2nd picture. I had a 3rd pic where the red was all gone but that shot was blurry so I didn't include it. I don't think I have ever seen a piece of rough with such a pronounced change like this where both patterns are interesting. Usually you only see interesting pattern give way to uninteresting host rock. No idea if this has a name.

Another unknown. I like the flow of the pattern.

A piece of really interesting petrified wood.

These next 2 were in a bucket labeled Mexican Moss.

The rough this came from made me think of Imperial Jasper with some junk host rock at the top of the slab. I don't think it is Imperial though.

Another piece of impostor rough. Rough looked like this might be unakite with a pink granite-ish end. The filaments in the green makes me think it is not unakite, but I could be wrong.

Another unknown. Pic is a little blurry and does not show too well how the dark red splotches are outlined with a fine greenish border.

Last but not least some Stone Canyon Jasper
