Here is my first batch of beach rocks after 4 days in 80 grit, I know, I know, I did not last long but I had to have a look. Now the questions does anyone know what 'A' and 'B' are? Also I have this real purdy rock that looks like oil floating on water can anyone identify it? Thanks for looking and I'll post a full update when they are polished, assuming I can go more then 20 minutes without peeking Oh, can someone tell me how wide a quarter is so I can use something the same size for scale? Dave.

a,and b are red jasper colored by hematite both have quartz veins showing, makes us eastern folk crazy to see the preground rock nature churns up on those western beaches. the silver striped coulbd . be obsidian not enough information in a photo to determine with certaintity what , it is if it is lighter than the jasper then obsidian it is ,if not someother material. gemmaster

So now I know that the beach here is mostly made up of Granite, quartz and Red Jasper ;D
I gonna go out tomorrow and fill up a barrel of the Jasper.
Thanks
Dave.

Yep, you got a bunch of nice jaspers there. I try to get me some of those every time I go to the beach! They tumble great as long as you are patient & keep grinding them until all the cracks & pits are totally gone. Don't rush them & they'll turn out great!

That's a great looking batch Dave, going to be awesome finished. That blue and black stone in the 2nd pic is just gorgeous. I wish I could find pretty stuff like that along the lakes here, I love those quartz lines, makes them very unique.

those are gorgeous already, can't wait to see them polished. a 2 Pence coin is only slightly larger than a quarter....i just measured both, the quarter is 15/16th of an inch and the 2P piece measures an inch even.

You are right about easterners drooling over the rocks in the west. I stated to a friend the other day ( nice and warm) I want to go somewhere to look for rocks. Theya ll laughed with the comment that stealing them from someone's driveway was about the only way here. I'm still looking, however.
