I was out houndin' yesterday with the gang (my wife, mom, uncle and aunt) at Fall creek res. out side of Eugene. We were given directions by my new bestus pal Dan to the motherlode of all jasper locations. The were pieces so large we couldn't pick them up! Between all of us, we packed out about 200 lbs. of various colors and types of jasper, carnelian and chalcedony. We left piles of good stuff, we just had to stop picking up rock!! Here are a couple pics of a portion of my haul: The goods after cleaning... Some jasper... Some more jasper! Rich

Include me in on the pouting. I can only imagine what it must be like to just go out and pick this stuff up.

Include me in on the pouting. I can only imagine what it must be like to just go out and pick this stuff up. Brian Well it not quite as easy as that, The terrain is a currently draining lake bed, in this picture, you can see the 35 to 40% grade you are standing on. And that's very loose damp dirt. We all slipped and fell...alot! Then the "easy" walk down through the brushy forest, no trail you can find, turns into a steep uphill climb later, with 70 or 80 pound buckets of rock in each hand!! If I keep going there, you'll have to call me skinnyrichie, if it don't have coronary first!! And they do kind of resemble chunks of meat don't they. No wonder I'm so hungry after a day like that! I think I will probably have most of it slabbed, but I am going to go back and attempt to pack out some of the large pieces with my uncle. The gals said they would just as soon pass on a return trip! As the water levels in the local reservoirs drop we will be making more trips for jasper and a couple trips for pet wood. These places are only about 20 minutes from home so they make great quick trips. I will post some pics of the areas later! Fatty

Richie, That's Awesome! The lake looks really low. I've heard Fall Creek Res. is also a good place for Petrified wood. Did you find any? I was just asking a guy I work with who lives up near Lookout Point, and he said the Lakes are draining pretty fast. I'm excited! If you need another person to haul rocks out, LMK. I'd love to take a quick trip up there to do some rockhounding. I've got Fridays off. Thanks for sharing the pics...and great stuff. I knew there was a reason to move up here. Although Utah is full of Super Rocks also. Steve
