A friend gave me this rock. It had a lot of yellowing, so I soaked it in Iron-Out. Can you tell me what it is, please?

A friend gave me this rock. It had a lot of yellowing, so I soaked it in Iron-Out. Can you tell me what it is, please? It appears to be a quartz vein in basalt to me. I tumbled a much smaller chunk that looked a lot like that.

Break it up and tumble? Leave as is? It appears to be a quartz vein in basalt to me. I tumbled a much smaller chunk that looked a lot like that.

Shale/Slate with white Calcite possibly as well, where is from? happen to have any Muriatic acid to test the suspected calcite?

Vinegar didn't have any effect on it. A knife doesn't scratch it. I haven't tried muriatic acid.

If you have some quartz, you could see if it scratches the basalt (I think) and the quartz. If I am wrong, it probably will not scratch the white stone.
