I cut the rest of the Nether's Farm Flint I had on hand into as many slabs/slabettes that I could get out of them! LOL Some of these only yielded one slab, but I got several slabs out of most. The second pic is a slab of some Clear Creek Plasma Agate (with Cinnabar) that I picked up off of eBay. The yield wasn't that great as it was really full of matrix. Thought I'd try a collage pic...

All this nice material from that locale has definitely put Nether's Farm on my visit list!

It's a spot that's definitely on my bucket list...or should that be bucket(s) list...because I know I'm going to want more than just one bucket when I get there! LOL

The variety displayed in that flint ridge stuff is impressive, I’d have trouble deciding where to dig. I totally agree...I'd be like a squirrel on Red Bull trying to get to as many places as I could! LOL I was pleasantly surprised on several of these pieces...the exterior didn't suggest as much color as was present on the interior...

The Flint is pretty, on my list as well. I have been on the hunt for some premium Plasma Agate for a couple of years now, the stuff I have now is close to what you have. Just sliced some up this week and set it aside for when we are properly set up to cab as it has too much matrix/soft areas to survive the tumblers.

Some of that flint is spectacular, and I like the plasma but sometimes it's been hard for me to get decent slabs out of what I've cut in the past...

Loving the flint! Should make for some awesome cabs! Clear creek plasma is a favorite of mine tho yet to work with much of it. Look forward to seeing the cabs you produce from these slices. Oh, and I recommend nethers farm 100%!

Just sliced some up this week and set it aside for when we are properly set up to cab as it has too much matrix/soft areas to survive the tumblers. Thanks Al! This was a very inexpensive lesson on the Plasma Agate. No one else bid on it, and I picked up about 8 pounds for $12 plus shipping. I figured if I got even a couple cabs out of the whole thing, it was still worth it. I think I'll get around 20 cabs out of it. The matrix isn't like the matrix on Thundereggs. It's WAY too brittle to work without stabilizing it. I don't figure the value is really in it to put the $ into stabilizing this particular batch. I know I ended up culling over half the material due to all matrix content... Some of that flint is spectacular, and I like the plasma but sometimes it's been hard for me to get decent slabs out of what I've cut in the past... Thanks Mike! I've got one slab tucked away somewhere that was from someone on here...and I can't remember who at the moment, but the one that was sent to me was very stable. I have read up on this material, and it's notorious for being hit or miss with regards to stability. I think I can judge the rough a little better now having seen the difference between the stable and unstable material... (Of course, I haven't cabbed any of this stuff yet...just slabbed it.)

Oh, and I recommend nethers farm 100%! Thank you so much! I'm about to stencil the cab shapes on these here in a couple minutes. I'm a little stoked to work a bunch of these! I've only got to work a couple pieces of the Plasma Agate so far (not these)...but I just love how "busy" it can be...and just looks "gemmy".

We can all imagine what a rock will look like when cut, the tough part is having an educated guess lol! Yeah...as far as the "educated guess" and myself goes:

Once this insane heat wave breaks for good, I'm off to Nethers for my fill of flint! Amazing stuff for sure.

For sure. Heck I may even take orders? I already have an order for one box. I can't afford to drive the F-350 out there but I can probably fit 500 lbs in the jeep.

I'd certainly love to try some of that out after seeing so many incredible photos of that material. Admittedly, I am VERY enamored with Nether's Farm material. I am so amazed at the similarities - to a point - to the chert Prairie Agates here in South Dakota. The colors can be really amazing...and the workability is right up there with the flint. I do think the flint has a bit more outrageous color possibilities...but I like the close proximity of the Prairie Agates. LOL

Only 3 hour drive for me and I am self-employed (or is it barely-employed?) so I can go any day of the week. We can tag team them rocks if that's a winning strategy. If we have a productive outing, jasoninsd might join me next year for a second round.
