Today I found and purchased a mini sonic MT-4 tumbler. I have no idea what recipes to use and need lots of help. Can I use it for all steps or just after one? Thank you in advance.

Alright, I got it up and running with 60/90 silicon carbide and it seems to be doing well. First time with sonics or vibes.

I just looked it up and it runs without any moving parts! Pretty interesting device. You probably already know this, but normal vibe tumblers do not shape the rock, as in rounding it. I would think that this one that you have would not shape them either.

For my first run I am not shaping them in a rotary ( probably not the best move but I want to get a feel for it).

I may be of some help, I've been running an MT-4 since March. I don't run coarse grit in it, I shape the stones in a rotary tumbler. I use 1.5 pounds of stones and 0.5 pounds of ceramic media in each load...the advertising says it's a four pound jar. Maybe with steel shot and small metal parts, but certainly not with rocks. If the load packs up and stops moving, either a large stone has gotten stuck or you have too much material in the jar. Remove a few bits and it should start rolling again. My schedule is: 4 tsp of 120-220 grit SiC, run three days. 3 tsp of 600 grit SiC, run 2 days. 2 tsp of 1000 grit AO, run 24 hours. 1 tsp of Raybrite A polish, run 24 hours. After each stage, I run the stones with a pinch of Ivory soap shaving for an hour or so to clean the stones and the jar. imgur.com/BOPaRf6

I might have some too big rocks. It rolls for a bit then stops and rolls again. If I remember, I'll fix it tomorrow.

Alright, removed two big ones and believe it fixed it.
