I'm not exactly sure why this works but it does. Obviously has something to do with U bracket under the motor mount.

It looks like very little energy is being transferred to the barrel without the clamp. Are all of the welds in the frame still intact? Given the difference with and without the clamp, it seems possible that something could have become detached. Either that or there is simply way too much wasted energy in the design of the Lot-O.
I may have to play around with mine to see if that could be a way to prevent the 120/220 stage from bogging down. No matter what I try, mine never seems to be able to last more than a day on that stage without the motion looking like yours without the clamp.

spot welds from the bottom bracket to the frame must have broken, there shouldn't be a gap there.

Yep, looks like a couple 3 self tapping sheet metal screws, really short ones, might take care of it. wish I had a clue where oy loto is so I could compare. the positioning of the piece of round doweling also adjusts the action if I recall.

The same thing that I find, the 120/220 run can jam up within 24 hours, even after spritzing now and again. BTW, I believe the frame has a lifetime warranty.

It works because you are putting the part of the frame below the motor up against the rest of the frame, which cradles the barrel, back where it belongs. Without the clamp in place most of your vibrations are being lost to the gap in the frame. Like oregon said the spotwelds are broken. Yes the frame is guaranteed for life but I would drill and bolt that up so as to not be without the tumbler. I would use nyloc nuts or lock washers for extra insurance.
