Found this
Pyrite is not magnetic. Some related minerals are, but only weakly, not as strong as iron, so the test will likely fail anyway. Magnetism is not an inherent property of an element, but that of a compound. Most compounds of iron are not magnetic (though some are); on the other hand, there are organic magnets made out of totally non-magnetic elements.
Think of something based on chemical properties instead. Pyrite is a salt of a metal and a weak acid. Gold is a metal, of the kind that would not react with acids.
Streak test: Chalcopyrite and pyrite will leave behind a dark green to black streak

Yo just did a streak test color indicates closer to 100% confirmation that the nugget is pyrite not my gold filling That fell out years ago I took the filling back to the dentist To refit back into the cavity no go Not a great dentist or who knows ? maybe he cheated me ha this shows it won’t stick That magnet is pretty strong go with some weakly magnetic to nil Was reading about geo-chemist doing some sort of procedure to increase the magnetic qualities in pyre More read about this sulfide- more I dig….

Life is strange. On the road at my mom's place Poking my beak around, seeing what's new. No idea where it came from, but it got there somehow I'll inquire over some coffee in the morning Another synchronicity I suppose..... Someone is carrying the mantle *I think its resin 😑

this talented lady came down with near sudden Parkinson's was an star of the local orchestra, and an artist to boot gave my mom a gorgeous watercolor painting and this heart for all the help she had been offered I would guess they had significance to her
I forgot to take side shot... not a rock though, maybe a wood or resin. Not entirely sure.

Did the double take on this one Ed, not many rough shaped rocks chilling in the water. Thought the whole getup was interesting, mostly smooth on two sides, like it just fell off a slab.

I honestly don't have a good answer to this, thought a rock I found today had shed some insight but I'm still not viewing in the right light I need to do more research on gneiss, geology, etc, etc
I'll get back to you someday

The Roosevelt Damn was dedicated by President Theodore Roosevelt March 1911.
What interesting, & just dawned on me, was that it was started & constructed before Arizona became a state in February 14 1912
have pictures of the quarry where the rock were hewed for the dam.

I held court telling the patrons my Wallace & LadMo story Just happened to look up a new word (for me, anyway) a few minutes ago, Ed . . . griot: a member of a class of traveling poets, musicians, and storytellers who maintain a tradition of oral history in parts of West Africa.

Ha ha RickB Good rock hound eye I sat at the bar, & was just there for my favorite dish Green chili burro Red enchilada style The bartender looked at me strange as if I wasn't sure - what I was ordering Then he caught on - he had an original Sonoran style red enchilada sauce That the ticket ! Rick gemfeller would know! Anyway I brought up Wallace & Ladmo Asking if they had ever dined there ? That lead me to grioting Hey Rich parfive Then a couple other bar patrons came over to listen Plus a distant relation of the original owners told me about Condello's Mom turned down a margarita offering was driving Long ways Thanks for making me study their menu I learned something also! Never heard or tried Chalupas C’mon on over and let’s gohs … Buya a fajita Might have to be at Taco Bell For the cheap one ha ha

These 2 strange flying insect Were in the rock yard attached difficult time trying to capture a sedentary photo they were fluttering about And avoiding me & the camera ha The bluish critter reminds me of a tarantula wasp Anyone have any other i.d.? Thanks... Hey, mohs! The one on the right looks like a banded cricket. The dark/black one on the left looks like some kind of predator eating the hapless cricket. Hey wait, it does kind of look like a tarantula hawk (that irridescent black/blue), but I see no wings. I know they catch insects, give them a paralyzing bite, lay an egg on it, and stuff it down into a burrow, where the egg hatches, then their larvae use the bug for food. So, they are connected by the eating bug's mouthparts holding on to the butt of the cricket! Yum yum! My guess, I may be wrong?
