Besides being a cool verde quartz stone I do believe that small seam contains oro I poured some soda on it and did some picking w/ cactus needle have the rock stashed and will do further inspection Probably fools gold butte this one seams morhs promising… mostly

Not sure HankRocks where it from Henry its at the Phoenix Zoo so it was orphaned in... The tale says Dutchman gold is in rose quartz if that is gold 50/50 chance at this point then the origin location of the rock would be known to an Arizona rock-hound that cool green quartz epidote? Its right on a busy path and patrons were wandering/ wondering what the heck got this old mohs on his stool so intently studying tellya they don't know it there I wont high grade it butte those may be famous last words nah mostly

Pretty nice looking rock no matter what.

Hi Guys High graded the Zoo rock To a park bench for closer inspection I’m pretty stokEd Even if the macro is lousy Not pyrite- not gold My analysis is its Arizona Copper
In a very weathered quartz Chryscholla
That thin seam has spots of the reddish copper Its very cool in mohs estimation So the rock remains stashed in its original spot Perhaps I’ll get the Zoo to put a Copper name plate on Mohs Rock Its incredible butte the PhoenixZoo Is fabulous about remembering folks With Hollywood type star name plates bricks & such Everywhere! tanks for viewing and commenting mohs

The Zoo as some really cool geology And that will be my contribution To bring more awareness to that These rocks are off the beaten path Kind of in restricted area So I haven’t gotten up close and personal Any idea what they might be ?

That brightens my day Lee! I'll be showing that as a prototype Really cool Tanks !! RockoonzHi Lee Your EdMohs shopped Brick is a big hit I showed it to quite few patrons Ha The Zoo would hire you in New York second Whatever you applied for & you would enjoy working there Unfortunately your just a tsccht to far away to make it profitable for both parties Out your way is that wildlife refuge I went there once- long ago Plus I hear that aquarium rocks

If you had a pocket size pin-pointer metal detector it would let you know if it was a metal or not. Pretty nice looking rock no matter what. I’m interested in that device I may need one stopped to admire this boulder In what appeared to be melted w/ thin layer of silica/chalcedony on the surface Further inspection revealed the metallic glint How to determine if it metal ? Couple ideas is to bring a magnet Which will probably not reveal much butte Who knows? The other idea is a file. check the hardensss/streak Or/if it scrapes as a metallic substance. Perhaps it glob of frozen feldspar/ mica ? Maybe silver Any other idea… mostly

Altho I haven't had a chance to explore The glint above A google search led me to this possibility en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molybdenitea real soft substance so my file should easily scrtch it so stay tuned for further the analysis & thanks for your help... mostly

That's some elven beauty there. When driving inbound on 60 at dawn the effects of my travel speed looking east at 3-4 layers of Mt ridges with that light haze is exceptional, really cool 3d effect. An aimable roof mount camera like google would yield a nice video.

Finally got pretty good picture of the copper seem Maybe it was because if the rain ? Originally thought the speck was gold Further analyses revealed Cu I was talking to young and upcoming person who interested in the lapidary arts asked what there favorite color or rock is Turquoise Then I asked if knew of Chryscholla Didn’t was told how geology is confusing So I suggested just concentrate on learning about copper and its derivatives That should narrow down and perhaps help consolidate other origins of the rock cycle It is a vast subject Anyway I was stoked With the copper find
