Hey gang, I couldn't wait to show you aal my new (old) toy. I think it's a hand made copy of a 24" Highland Park saw. Maybe you all can clarify what it was copied from if not the Highland Park! It was minutes from being cut up for scrap metal when the shop foreman at this customers place asked if I wanted a rock saw. I said yes, the owner of the business said I could have it for a steak dinner, so in my garage it sits!!! Here are a couple pics. I think I scored pretty good, it needs a motor and a blade, but those are pretty easy to come up with. It also will need a feed motor (rotissarie motor I'm told). I am so excited just to have the basic unit! I'll post more pics as I get it cleaned up, painted and completed! The happy Fatty, Rich

An oil bath!! Sounds like more fun than cuttin' rocks to me! My uncle has some bullit proof clear plastic that he is going to weld into a nifty cover. He has access to a motor and it looks like we may have found a blade (used) toget started with.
Well I'm off to work! TTYS

Now the fun (and frustration) starts...tearing it down,,,stripping it to bare metal, painting and putting it together again without haveing any parts left over. You will be very happy (and proud) when it's all up and running.

I thought I'd show everyone the progress on the restoration of the old saw. I spent today grinding, sanding and scraping the old girl. I got her cleaned up pretty well, then gave her a nice dull Iron Oxide primer coat. Now the garage stinks of fresh paint rather than decades old oil and rock dust! I talked to my friend 'Digger Don' in Sutherlin, Or. He has three 24" blades and offered to loan me one! He also has the pulleys I need as well. That leaves a motor, and fitting it, and a rotissarie motor for the auto feed. I think I should be able to scrounge those up at the local recycler. And paint and a christening... Of course!

Wow Rich, that's coming along really nice, you're going to have yourself an awesome "toy" for an excellent price. Bet you can't wait to get it cutting into something.

Looks great! I'm not exactly sure of what an oil bath is, but if I can get one of those while being naked and drinking a beer, then count me in! ;D
