Start a new post in this section with your motor questions. There a few expert on here with some great tricks. They have helped me save a few motors. When you turn it by hand can you get it running? Watch your fingers! Does it hum when you apply power. Plug into a GFI plug and see if it pops the breaker. I know you can still buy that motor but I don't what it would cost.

I agree the Rose laps built in the 1960s had indirect drive with the counterweight on a separate shaft attached to the plate. Much less stress on the motor. I think someone is still making these but they are very expensive. rewdownunder I had seen your post a week ago about the Rose reciprolap. I picked up a used one at a local club's silent auction, for the exorbitant sum of $30! We brought it home, cleaned it up, and it does work. However, we have yet to actually use it. Thought you may be interested in a link to that post from 2013. There are pictures on that thread, and lots of useful information. 20" Rose vibralap / RociprolapAnother thread from 2012 Rociprolap- anyone use one? From 2019 Rose rociprolap questionAnd one more from 2008, this from someone that "just finished rebuilding an 18" Rociprolap (Rose) and it now runs beautifully and quiet with a new motor." Wow I have seen those go used for $1500.00+ If you want something perfectly flat that is the ticket. I have used it for very large geodes and bookends. All the parts are available. The only problem with it is it is just so heavy it almost takes two people to change the plate. Have fun with it. Thanks for the links to other posts. I use a plastic sheet as a tent as it can throw a lot of mud and make a mess. I think our club has the original instructions and part list. I will look for it.

You are welcome for the links, rewdownunder. There have probably been a few more threads concerning the Rose Rociprolap over the years. I just used the convenient Google search box at the top left of the page, beneath the Amazon link bar. Possibly more threads on it to be found! The original instructions would be great, thanks for the offer!

@azrockgeek thanks for the info. Yes, it's super dry here in the high desert of OR and I forgot about the factor of drying out. I know some folks set up IVs to drip when in use. Something to think about, I have some for my cat, so that's easy to procure. @hankrocks I had the same thought about the golf balls, they seem pretty rigid. I'm still evaluating whether more bounce is better or not, that said super balls are fairly firm without being "hard". oregon I get the feeling this is an "after market" cord which is why I was concerned with the amp load. Not worried about sleeping at night so much as being careful and responsible to the beings in my house .added: also I think you are spot on about "padding" thicker cords. rewdownunder I do have an example, so I will send those to you. I was able to get a replacement on cheap @ ACE. I saw the parts list @ Lortone website, but everything was a dead end except that KN had the balls $5 and double that in shipping. The only thing I do not know how to convey to you is the tension of the spring. I just got an FL15 myself, so I can tell you that Lortone parts are available at Kingsley North; replacement balls are $5 a pop. I haven't ventured into other parts for mine yet.

Thanks to a the dog (dental issues; I don't know why he couldn't just floss!), and the washing machine kicking off, I put off ordering (because once I go on the site, it's never just "one thing"...and shipping...ugh...). Hoping to try it out sooner than later, but it's on the backburner now Your end???

Considering giving up the vibe lap life... but unconvinced one way or another. I bought a 12 pack of off brand super balls, which apparently most people use for their machines, I could send you three...
