I have assorted slabs sitting on an outdoor table. I grabbed a cigar and started looking at them. Morrisonite, Owyhee, Ocean Jasper, Dino Bone.

That morrisonite is killer. But before cutting it I would study it a bit longer, perhaps with a fine cognac.

I felt like doing some work and rough ground them and then worked on the Morrisonite through 280 soft. Wet off the wheels. I got a small piece of rough at the roughrocksandgems anti sniper sale. I was a little disappointed but the cab shows better than the slab.

The Owyhee reminds me of a desert landscape.

There is a pretty significant pattern change between the preform and the 280. This is why I love morrisonite! Who knows what is lurking between 280 & 600!

I would like to know what kind of cigar... My two main hobbies are cigar smoking and making cabs. There are a lot of similarities. I have a large variety of rock and a large variety of cigars. I don't collect, I have inventory. I buy when there is a good deal. Both rocks and cigars are consumed for enjoyment. Rocks produce cabs and cigars produce ash. I don't know how many cigars I have but it is over 2,000. The one I was smoking today was a Coopera which has some taste similarities as cigars with Cuban tobacco but is from Nicaragua.

One of the best cigars I've smoked was a Nicaraguan...much better than the Cuban I smoked. I was into cigars many years ago. I liked the similarities between cigars and wine. The tobacco, like grapes, can have good years and bad years - and oftentimes certain years are far better than others. Same thing with regions it's grown...some are better than others. And just like wine - all that makes a difference in the "taste". I don't like wine...so way back when, I figured becoming a cigar aficionado was a good alternative.

I found this 3x1 inch slab and was going to do a design. I knew it as Christmas Tree agate and after doing some searching I believe the correct name is Christmas Tree Plume agate and then I didn't find much. There was an aka of Linda Marie but unless it is a variation... Since it's trees, I wanted the orientation of the slab but was hoping to get inspiration from another cab.
