It took me alot longer than it should have because I started with only 8 diamonds attached to the medallion instead of 10. Once I figured out my mistake it took me about 16-18 hours total. I might weigh around 1lb., however, once you get it on the weight distributes over the head it isn't very heavy. I order the coins through a belly dancing supply website. Tami

how exactly does one make chainmail items? how do you connect the rings together, because aren't they solid? I dont get it...

You twist the rings sideways to open them (never pull them apart) then hook them through the other rings and twist them back closed.

No the rings are not solid they have a cut in them and I work with half of them open and the other half closed so I can do what they call speed knit. That just means that you add one to two rings with the one you are putting on the next row. Go to this website and you will get a basic idea. urbanmaille.com/chainworks/index.htmlTami

I LOVE IT! Wish I had an occasion to wear something like that, I've always wanted an headdress like that, but where would I wear it? Just to die for, Tami!

Cookie, I know it is just one day away from Halloween, but you know it would work great with a halloween costume, any very special occassion, I even thought that it would make a great addition to a wedding vail. Tami
