Found this LSA that I tumbled in 2016. If I remember correctly I threw it in the 3 lb. tumbler with other rocks of similar hardness. Had a variety of sizes + pea gravel. No other cushioning material for any stages. I did know enough to use a toothbrush to clean grit from the pits. Looks like I did not get all of the polish off. It did get a nice polish, but has some cracks. It was a beautiful rock. Knowing what I do now, a 3 oz LSA should not be tumbled in a 3 lb. barrel like that. Oh well, live and learn. I wanted a photo with exact colors and one showing translucency. The blue is much more intense than it is showing here.

Woah fernwood ! That rock is amazing! I had no idea it would be so transparent. It was very deceiving before polish. Had a good amount of water weathering to smooth it out, too.

fernwood when you say it shouldn't be tumbled in a 3# like that, do you mean not in a 3# or in a 3# but better cushioned / etc? Or both? I only have a 12# so everything goes in it including fracture-prone agate, so i'm just trying to gauge how dumb i am ... That is still a very pretty agate.

Probably not in a 3 lb. barrel. it was too large and got banged up. Better cushioning, especially in final polish might have helped some. Thanks. I thought it was very pretty and somewhat unique.
