First, a big "thank you" who everyone who has asked questions about slab saw motors and/or posted responses over the past few years. I've learned a lot from you! Yesterday I bought a homemade tank of a 14" slab saw. It looks like a great setup... that is missing its primary motor. I suspect that the son of the builder re-appropriated it. At any rate, the motor's gone. Today I've been looking for a suitable replacement motor in the 3/4-1hp range. The specs on the one below look pretty good to me, but I'm thrown by the two listed RPM ratings and the horsepower rating. Is this a 1.33 horsepower motor, or a motor that pulls 1hp while running one way and 1/3hp while running another? And a similar question regarding RPM- will this motor run 1725rpm while spinning CCW and 1140rpm while spinning the other direction? Or is there another reason behind the two RPM listings? I appreciate any other thoughts on using this motor to power a slab saw. :-)

This is a 230 volt motor that is 1.33 hp, it will run 1140 rpm if you hook it up to the LO side or 1725 rpm if you hook it up to the HI side. To switch rotation interchange the T1 and T2 wires, it wont affect the rpms.
Its probably a little overkill for a 14" saw, be great for a 24" saw.

Yes, it's 230V, so you won't be able to plug into a standard plug (110-115v) Also more than you need. Personally I wouldn't go over 1/2HP for a 14", but 3/4HP is also OK. My 18" saw has 3/4HP and never labors on the biggest rock.
You switch blue and white to reverse.
Show us the saw...

1/2 HP is what is on my 14" Never even slows down or whines with harder material. Look for a capacitor start if you can find one. You can definitely use that one but you will need a 220 line. Overkill for sure, but you won't have any overheating issues! I'm cutting as I type!

I'm still on a learning curve with Cloudinary- let's see if these pics of the saw come through! I decided to go with this motor, it's in great condition and the price was right. Thanks for the input! Fixed it for you. Once you have the URL (location), use the insert picture icon, located above this box, between the email and insert video icons. Just click on the icon (looks like a tiny photo of a landscape), and insert the URL in the upper box which says Image URL. Keep at it you'll get the hang of it! Oh, and it would be helpful if you reduce the size of the pics before uploading, something around 600 to 800 pixels wide. That way, it doesn't overwhelm someone viewing on a small screen. And, your pics will take up less space in your Cloudinary account!
