Saw something familiar in Gaetz' zebra rock pix from Deer Hunt '05. I have picked up a few of these from rockbeds around here. They were among lots of dark brown river rock/agate and khaki colored rocks I believe are chert. I didn't have a quarter for scale, but the one on the right is about 2 inches wide. It has a date with a saw at some point. The one on the left has been through several weeks of course -- it has smoothed out, with one small nick and is awaiting a barrel of 220. These are the othersides, wet. I think they're kind of cool and keep my eye out for them. Hope to get one all the way to polish soon. matt

Nice banding on that zebra chert!! I can't think of a better name for it. If something else, it is certainly well agatized. At any rate, post it up polished!

Reminds somewhat of that piece I'm doing for Bill/Icetres. Colors are certainly the same, banding is a little tighter but still very similar. PS ... I knew Bill had found a link for this, just had to find it. Check this out, looks exactly the same. Banded Chert www.rocksforkids.com/Locations/dundas.html
