I have heard people use 47/60 in larger tumbler but never anyone using it in a 3 lb Lortone. Is it possible? Would it initiate faster grinding? Thanks in advance.

I use #46 SiC in my 3lbs., (2 tbsp/lb.): takes a solid week to break down with Mohs 7 material, much much lower quantity of SiC with softer stones. My 12lb. lortones will eat 2 tbsp/lb. in about four-five days vs. seven in a 3lb. barrel--so I tend to add more.

I had trouble with it breaking down in my 33b. Even ran it extra days and there would still be abnormal amounts not breaking down. I’m gonna give it a whirl in my 6lb coming up quick.

FWIW, your 6lb barrel should have no problem whatsoever with the 46/70. I was also able to use it in my 45C before I transitioned to a QT66 for all of my coarse work. I think you'll like it.

Way Way Back when I only had a 3 pound Tumbler I built a Cleanout Sink with Grit recovery. Then I didn't mind too much if there was unused grit being cleaned out every week because I was still keeping and reusing it.

I actually have an outdoor sink and am saving the grit. (Not enough to save yet though.)
