Ok got myself some more amethyst, it came today with my new Lortone 1.5 tumbler. ( By the way why doesn't this thing have an on off switch? And WHAT is with that nut on the top? Looks like it will wear right through! Oh well we'll just have to wait and see) Anyway the BIG stuff is from Kingley North $3.40 for a pound and the small stuff is 900cts worth from ebay...remember when I first joined I bought that and the rubies.... So, here it is in all its rough glory, pictured wet and I remembered the quarter this time It is now tumbling in 46/70 and a couple tablespoons worth of borax. I'll let ya know soon Sorry they are dark, I can't lighten them to save my life.

Xena, what are you thinking buying a 1.5# barrel? Whatcha gonna put in there - you'll be getting a 3# soon after...? They don't have a switch on the Lortone - just pull the plug.
Nice rough! can,t wait to see it finished - I love amethyst!

Nice amethyst. The nut won't wear through the groove is set to where it doesn't rub. Tami

Wow, that stuff is huge, great color too. There's a little metal piece sticking up on the Lortone unit on the side toward the motor. The groove on the nut should be toward the top, then set it so it rides on that little metal piece. It's to keep the barrel in place so the bottom of the barrel isn't rubbing against the other end.

Tweety, I got a 1.5 because I have several batches of stuff that I want to run alone and the batches are too small to work right in the 3lb barrel. As soon as the cash Gods loosen up a bit I'm gonna get a Lortone 33b...I just gotta figure a way to break it to the SO LOL

Good luck with the tumbling.
Jeannine just sold her first wirewrapped pendant ....and it was an amethyst which had been in rough only. The girl that ordered it loves it.
