Some months ago I bought some larger rough on ebay. My Covington 16 inch combo saw is on the way to land fill. The vise is broken, the carriage slips and the clutch won't adjust. One of the larger pieces of rough, about 5 pounds was Biggs Opal. I've had opalized Biggs jasper but this is something else and is from a very old collection. I put a clamp on the vise and shoved the rock through, reducing the size so it would fit in the small saw which started to act up after I cut these:

I tried cutting some small Morrisonite yesterday and the blade was binding. The blade was spinning fine and the rock was secure in the vise. I felt the rim of the blade and there was texture. I contacted HP and got a call back. I decided to take the blade off while on the phone. There was some issue with the rep over what the replacement blade should be. I looked at the rim and all the diamond was gone. The blade cost $50 with free shipping and no tax. I got plenty of use out of it. Trim saw blades cost the same or more and I go through those like potato chips. The blade that comes with the saw has the same kerf as a trim saw blade and is supposedly not good with hard material. The better blade costs $80 but has a .80 kerf. One of the reasons I bought the 10 inch saw was the smaller kerf and less material waste.
