That is simply gorgeous!!! What's not to like? I love the fact you're creating ratios in these! (Now you just need to make an identical one and it can be a MASSIVE pair of earrings! )

Definitely not traditional looking, but I love the shape you got on that one! The extra height really adds a lot of interesting patterns on the sides.

I like the shape. Perfect to show off the patterns in the stone.

Like Jason said — “what’s not to like?”
The portions, including dome peak placement are perfect
i have to admit, though. Based on the title, I thought we were going to get some rock porn.

First off I should mention that I like the shape, however the size is a bit on the massive side lol! Maybe 8 x 16 x 48, or 10 x 20 x 60 would have been the ticket. Brian made a good observation about the patterns on the sides, unfortunately that’s where most of the patterns ended up. My cut was a couple millimeters off, was hoping for more moss on the face of the cab. I'm not too sure a smaller size would've produced as gorgeous of a cab...at least with this piece. Like Brian pointed out, the patterns going down the sides may not have been as dramatic with a narrower profile. In fact, I think it really brings out the three dimensional aspect the way the fortification patterns are curling from the face down the sides. The high dome on this beauty takes the cake...especially the way you were able to keep the consistency throughout the entire length of the dome. Seriously, the more I look at the pictures, the more astounded I am by your abilities. Way to go! I've said it before...I've seen massive stones being worn by people...so there IS someone out there who thinks this size is perfect!

Thanks lunker , it would be even cooler if it was Montana agate! I might have to dig around and see what I can come up with. jasoninsd this should open up some shape possibilities! Yeah...I'd say so!!! My step-daughter texted me this afternoon and asked if I could make her a cab in the shape of a bat! I told her no because I didn't have the right equipment. Now, I know who DOES have the right equipment! LOL

The bats are a nice use of indo palm root. I’d probably get carried away with the project, but when fully assembled I’m willing to give it a try. Only if you want one for yourself! I suppose I wasn't "completely" honest with her...albeit unintentionally. Technically, I could do it with a Dremel, but forgot that technique when I responded to her. Granted, I don't really want to put that kind of effort into it with the Dremel...but I could... You're going to have so much fun with that once you get it up and going. I really am excited FOR you - and stoked to see what you come up with!

I was absolutely not trying to get you to make one. I was simply noting what your new equipment would be capable of accomplishing. I do apologize if it seemed like that was what I was hinting at...
