I got some small rough from Tony. First thing I do is face. When the piece is too small for the slab saw, I guess the orientation and split with the trim saw. I don't like using the trim saw because it is hard on blades but I was ready for a new blade so I could sacrifice the one I had. I have two flat sides and when everything is equal I would like them to be bottoms. I grind the other side to find the patterns. I chose these because the other sides were flat. Changed my mind and flattened the one on the left using a flat lap. The one on the right has a vug but is 9mm so I can take it down and the pattern will change, probably better. Anyone who has shops for Morrisonite slabs is that they are expensive and generally not very good. This approach requires more work.

Overcast morning light. Hard to believe these two were back to back on the rough.

Next group: Top left has streamers. Bottom right from the same piece. I need to do some more rough grinding to see if they are worth continuing.
