I saw the contest for this year is over. When does the next one start? I'm assuming 2022 but don't really know. Thanks you in advance.

No info when the next one starts, but the Burris Creek rough was shipped out for this contest starting in early January 2021. Most likely will ship January 2022 for the 2022 contest. Here's their website with info on the just passed 2021 contest. Rules, entry fee, prizes, etc. There's also a contact email address and phone number. Rock Tumbling ContestNo new info yet on next year's contest, you can check back later in the year, or someone will most likely bring it up.

Usually opens up sometime in January and rocks are usually shipped to contestants starting in February. Rocks are due back for Judging in September.

I don't think so. I have never entered myself, maybe someone who has entered the contest can answer that decisively.

After tumbling a batch of rocks for 4 months it is hard to send the very best 5 rocks off for sure. Back 6 or 7 years ago it was even worse because the requirement was to send in the best 1/2 pound of rocks. Although both times that I won were back when the rules were 1/2 pound. I actually thought the judging was much more fair with the 1/2 pound though. It is too easy for someone to get lucky and get 5 stellar rocks. I mean 5 rocks that either show great color, banding or no pits. Much harder to get 1/2 pound of top notch finished product I think. Chuck

LOL (Says the guy who is having a REALLY hard time putting most of his cabs and wraps up for sale - talk about "attachment" issues! LOL)

Here is Rule #1
1. Mail or email the submission form between January 1 and June 1. The earlier you submit, the more time you have to work the rock.
