No familiar names on the lists. Did the RTH streak of winners come to an end?

Rule #10
10. Judges look for the following: polish left in cracks, flaws in the workmanship (not the rock), coatings or anything that brings out the polish other than the work and wheel marks on the stone. Wheel marks will disqualify the applicant
Then they complain about the cracks and defects in the rock ?!

I was wondering the same. It would be awesome if they are the winners. Here is a post that Al made in the WRT Contest thread here. Quote: In an effort to win the “Biggest Procrastinator” award I sent in an application 5-31-21. We just got the rocks and put them in last night. We have never done the contest before as our barrels are always full and have not had the desire to interrupt anything we were running for rocks that we would be sending off. With what the last year has been and A.J. not doing any shows we are well stocked up on finished product so decided what the heck. I will add to the chorus from this year (and years past): “I cannot believe they chose this material”, “My rocks are all duds”, “This is really going to be challenging”..... Seriously though, seeing as they probably had to sweep the floor to get a box of rocks together at this point we are just glad they could accommodate us. A.J. was a little less enthused when I told him what the deadline was for sending them in and may have muttered “why even bother”. Trying to be positive I told him we needed a challenge. I thought he bought into it until he started grinding away on a couple of pieces to get rid of crumbly edges and finished with nothing. “Really!?!?” was the look he gave me. I think there are a couple decent possibilities, but it will be a challenge to finish five worth submitting. I know there is not a size requirement stated but have to think that would come in to play at some point. If we broke these down to eliminate the various fractures/faults we would be submitting pebbles. Just gotta make due with what you got. We better get hustling. To make it more interesting we are going to be out of town for a couple of weeks in July as well, may have to take a tumbler with us .

Well, seeing as Al is Rockindad , and his son AJ is his partner in crime, AND they live in Western New York (according to Al's profile page), I'd say that chances are PRETTY DARN GOOD that they won it. Yay, you guys, you made the big time. Congratulations on the win, Al and A.J.!!!! There is always a miniscule chance that congratulations may be premature, but I don't think so.

Mr. Rockindad Al, needs to stop by this thread and update us. If you and A.J. won, congratulations! Please share a photo of your entry. I can confirm that our names are Al and A.J. Schubring, actually AJ IV and AJ V. So unless there were other contestants with our names the RTH streak is alive and well. We have yet to be officially notified and I’m not a big Facebooker so you guys knew about this before us. Our Press and PR people are working diligently on an official statement that will be forthcoming. For now I will just say “WOOHOO!” With the fine detective work here a guy can’t get away with anything! ETA: Believe it or not we will be counting on Feather River for the pics as we did not get any of the submissions. Quick story: on the last day that the rocks had to be postmarked by we just pulled the rocks out of polish. As we were sorting and doing our own judging in the basement I hear my wife yelling for me. I run upstairs into the kitchen and see my youngest daughter is on the floor out cold. In a matter of seconds she comes to and is puzzled why she is on the floor. Best we can tell is that she fainted due to dehydration. I apologized to AJ and told him I want to stay home to keep an eye on things and couldn’t get to the post office. Understanding, but I’m sure disappointed, he picked out the five rocks to box up anyways. Later on, when things had settled down, my wife volunteered to go to the post office for us. In our rush to get the package ready not a single picture was taken. Didn’t even realize it until she was out the door. I’ll get some of the runner ups this weekend but be forewarned, there are some uglies there. Was a challenging material to be sure.

I have been following your entry into the wild world of rocks. Really appreciate how AJ is involved. I have a soft spot for him, since my Grandson is also an AJ. Looking forward to any further posts you can do about your entry and the process involved.

Congratulations, Al and A.J.! That is quite a story. Sounds like your wife may be owed a nice dinner for saving the day.
