Still persevering this this wrapping stuff - not done one in a while though- Here is the latest effort, don't laugh too hard Pictures are not great and light was too harsh, so you can't really see the natural shine of the stone but you get the idea ! But Hey the front and back sort of match this time lol ;D Front Back Still cant manage to get the top (bail?) tidy - Any tips or pointers appreciated

Rose that stone is beautiful, where did you get it (sorry if I asked that before)? That's looking good, the sterling was a good choice for it. Tips or pointers? I can't really tell but do you have at least two wires for the bail? If not, keep that in mind, have them side by side so they can be slightly separated. It helps to make the bail look a little larger and hangs better on a chain. The curl down the side works good but maybe use a smaller object to wrap it around so you get a few more tighter curls, and keep them evenly separated. Keeping your wraps even and smooth is important so it looks like it all flows together. Keep practicing and look at pics of others. I looked for a long time before I attempted anything and still have a ton to learn.

The stone is from a load of Amazonite that I tumbled with some Moonstone - don't think I ever posted pictures of the finished load, came out pretty nice - I want to do another load of just Amazonite. There are two wires on the bail but they squashed together as I did it ! The curl on the side was more of an after thought really, I just grapped one of the kids coloured pencils that was next to me - I'll try and find something smaller next time. I will keep practising - it takes me so long to do it though - I have to build up to it . I do a little bit and decide its ok and then don't want to touch it for a week in case I mess it up lol How many wires do you usually start with Cher? I used three for this. Thanks for the tips !

I use three or four, probably use four wires more often though. I like the looks of having two wires around the edge after you pull one up on each side to hold the stone. A lot depends on the side of the stone too. I can very much relate to it taking a long time to do it, I can't just roll one out either. It takes me several hours and believe me, my poor nylon-jawed pliers are worn out from me straightening the wires out and redoing them. Then I get frustrated and put it down and don't look at it for a week or more. LOL I've even tossed a few across the room out of frustration, that feels pretty good. Better to do that than squish up the wire which crosses my mind occasionally too.

Rose, I think it looks very good! Love that Stone...very nice. I'm too much of a chicken sh## to attempt anything like this. I probably wouldn't be too good at it with my short, fat, stubby fingers! Steve

Rose that is beautiful! I've tried many times, but just end up with cut wire and nothing to show for it - I've wasted a whole bunch of wire trying desperately to turn out at least ONE good one - you have done that!
The amazonite is amazing isn't it - does it have the flash?

Thanks everyone
Its not the best shine I have ever got but its pretty shiney, thats why I want to do a load of just Amazonite as I think I could get better results.
Thank you Fatrichie, that is very kind of you.
