Doc, is that who I think it is in the last pic or someone who looks like him?

Yup. That is him and his bodyguard. I made the ring for him. When Sands saw the shop, he got his camera and went nuts. Then he got a lot for his daughter. The malachite ring with the gold man, and two saphires is for a professional golfer who hit two holes in one in one match. I made the man, did the inlay, set the stones. The skull with the two rubies is one of my designs I make for the Goth, and Bikers. I set the stones in the eyes. The not in focus ring with the ruby, is a signet ring with initials that a person wanted to have turned into a ring for a yet unborn grandchild to have for a keepsake. The ring is a turn of the century from his grandmother! I love making the cycle continue. Sands is going to set his machine up where the bench is empty. I want him to cut stones, and do the silver work for his designs. He will sit to my left when I do repairs. Directly in the spotlight. Directly in front of me is the plexiglass I had to put up to stop fuddy duddies bapping me in the head with their canes while I am soldering filigree. The Jerry beads are for the nut cases who just have to. I toss about ten a day. Sands will get a kick out of that. I had thought people had better things to do with their lives. Tomorrow Sands goes to the oral surgeon. We are going to drive him there, and bring him "home". Wednesday we all go to the shop. I think Sands is going to do well. He likes it here. Nice and quiet. Cher, thanks for posting the photos.

Nice shop Doc, you have quite an inventory. My question is why do the qtips want to bop you in the head? And, what are Jerry beads?

What a long strange trip it has been. The Q-Tips seem to think, when I have my torch going and it is a tough job, I am the information point for the fleamarket. The Q-tips shuffle over and use their canes to get my attention. You gotta watch Jerry Springer to see why I have Jerry beads there. Awful hard to explain but it solved an issue that was more than a little distracting. This is Floriduh.

Thanks everyone for the heads up. I will share a secret. Do a little every day. It adds up. It doesn't matter how much something costs. If I get silver wire at wholesale, I do not have to raise my prices, if I get silver wire at retail, the profit potential is not so great but I can still keep my prices low. I keep reading posts about where to get materials for the best price. The best places are where they ship to you and it gets there. Stick with any vendor long enough and they eventually discount your orders. Another hint. If it is priced too low, it won't sell. I am not saying gouge, just people with jewelery want something special. They want to meet the artist, they want to spend what they think is right for the quality they see, they want the artist to fix it if it breaks. Anyone on this forum can do what I do. I have seen your work. Suit up, show up, and believe in what you do. They, and the vendors will come. There isn't anyone here who cannot do what I do.

Doc thanks for the show! AMAZING! And your words of wisdom are so true! My wife has been wearing my necklaces to work- and getting so many inquiries about em! We didcided this weekend to start a small Ebay (yea yea I know) site together- She is gonna try to sell Quilt Kits I'm gonna sell rock work- We are not quiting our jobs or anything- Just gonna try to make a little "spending" cash with something we love to do! I love your theroy on pricing! It is so true- People equate low prices (thank you wally world) with junk- Raise the price and they will beat a path to your door!

Six years ago, I was sitting on a blanket, hating the world, thinking I had lost the game. My last exwife took the shop, money, pearls, gold, silver, stones, my tools, my vehicle. Our house was in arrears, I let her pay the mortguage. If a person just believes, and does what it really takes, it happens. However, once it happens, it gets more demanding. I went to an Halloween gig last night, and on the way, I dropped off a skull ring set with amythist eyes, picked up several rings to repair, a watch, this morning, the phone is ringing off the hook for me to do more work. Sometimes, I miss those blanket days. Freedom really is just another word for nothing to lose. Today I have things that are in the hands of landlords, tax beaureaus (sp?) and there is always the customons. Customer morons, who want the impossible, try to trick us, jump out of their clothes, bap me on the head with canes, ask stupid questions. Yes, there are stupid questions, like when I am repairing a ring and someone asks if I do repairs with my sign over my head. I miss the simple days.

Yea simpler days- But face it Doc- they are gone- You have the drive and talent- to waste it is a crime- Plus those customers give you the needed aggrivation that everyone must have in their life (without it we would all live to be 200 years old- and who the heck want's to live that long?)
