I have 2 UV10's but they are in boxes not unpacked. Wondering about the shaft bearings on the motor, is there also bearing on the frame? Maybe the weight is loose on the shaft. A metal rod held against your cheekbone right in front of your ear makes a pretty good makeshift mechanics stethoscope and you can touch the other end to various surfaces to see where it's the loudest. Did you ever unpack your UV-10 tumblers? I have not. I would definitely like to see your rebuild, One of mine will need an overhaul for sure and a little insight would help.

markb And Rockoonz I will locate the pictures shortly. I went walkabout in the desert for a few days Rockhounding and it was wonderful, this I forgot to post the breakdown. Since you mentioned noise, markb, I recently started using bubble mailers to cut back in sound. I cut a lit in the middle of the mailer envelope (or 2 or 3) and then put them on the threaded rod before I put on the lid, washer and nut. The noise is greatly reduced and it keeps the inner lid much cleaner so naturally, don't share the mailer envelopes among the stages, keep separate. I also find stage 2 and 3 LOUD. I used to put borax in to lighten the sound but I cannot easily dispose of the borax without damaging a yard plant.
