I think I heard this mentioned in YouTube or maybe I was hallucinating again? I think the were talking about using it for softer rocks but I don't recall the details, I was in bed falling asleep. Has anyone heard of this?

I've used crushed bottles and slabs of obsidian when tumbling large chunks of cullet glass and opal. Seemed to work okay. You have to be careful about busting up the glass.

They may have been talking about tempered glass pebbles. I wish I could remember stuff, it is possible this was a discussion at the rock show I attended last week. That would explain why I didn't see it in the YouTube history.

Some people use those glass pebbles that are meant for aquariums instead of ceramic. Personally I'm not a fan; the possibility of tiny glass shards isn't my cup of tea.

When tumbling fresh crushed glass, the sharp edges will wear down the rubber barrel and lid liners on a Loretone tumbler.

Safety glass breaks down into zillions of very tough little cubes, and can be had for free at rock shows when dealers shelves break. Very useful stuff, and the price is right.
