After seeing that, I think I'd have a hard time dissecting that slab...and once you see it, you can't unsee it!

Thanks, everyone. Glad you could all see the elephant in there. I grew up in the 70's, so independant confirmation is a good thing.
That is definitely a display slab. It won't ever be cut up by us.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe an extra large cab for a bolo tie ....
ETA: BTW, the color on that slab is off. It is BLUE!

I guess that's better than seeing pink elephants! Questions would really be raised with that! LOL

Or a belt buckle? Some of the members of our club loved making belt buckles from the really big pieces.

Swapped the photo above out to show something closer to the color seen in-hand. It's still more blue in person than in the photo.
Yeah, we could cut a large cab from it - but the fractures would either limit the size and shape, or it would require filling.
Some people really like natural slabs with "things" in them, and it would be worth just as much the way it is.

It looks sorta like those giant flint nodules. I think they come from Poland? I have a huge beautiful one but made the mistake of displaying it too close to the evaporative cooler and the moisture damaged it 😥

I love that stuff. It’s a giant nodule cut in half. It started separating / exfoliating like a concretion or a granite boulder. I will try to post a pic of it tomorrow.

Ok here’s the flint nodule. Hope no one minds me highjacking the thread. Now it has cracks and the exterior is extremely chalky. This was a gorgeous piece when I brought it home. Live and learn.

That's too bad. I guess with the chalky outside of those nodules, it would be prone to soaking up moisture. It was a beautiful piece. The good news is that it could be slabbed and cabbed if you ever decided you wanted to do it. I'm also wondering how deep those cracks go. Maybe a thick slice off the face would get past the damage and make it a display piece again.
Not a hijack at all. I asked to see it.
