Your jewelry seems really inspired, so if your muse if off.... I get that, too. I have to make a piece for my future niece in law for her wedding. I'm still waiting to be inspired.
I get emails all the time asking for classes. Maybe one day, but right now I can't see holding classes in my little place.
I've just been lazy when it comes to jewelry Classes don't have to be done in a "space" so to speak. There is always online classes Or community centers
I hadn't really thought about it, but you're right. There are several churches close by that have spaces, too.

Tela rockjunquieYou still have some slabs that need to show their true potential. I switch back and forth between tumbling and cabbing. The grinder gets a good work out either way. This hobby is about me enjoying rocks. I suspect it’s the same for you. Rock on young lady.

I took some lapidary and jewelry shop in a high school art class in 1974. I cut a few cabs then. It was about 2005 when we got the equipment and started grinding again, so for me over 30 years was the longest time. More recently it was about a year when we started remodeling our house in WA to sell, till I set up on the porch of the shop and did some grinding, polishing, and cabbing in late winter. Still not doing much while we work on house and property, but saws have been going most of the time.

It's been almost a year since I cut my last cab. I haven't been able to set my equipment up since moving here to AZ last January -- too busy trying to handle all the other issues in my life. Now I wonder if I'll ever cab again because I'm suffering serious hand and wrist pain from what I think is acute arthritis -- seeing a doctor soon to sort it out. Cabbing has always been my "Zen place." It's total therapy for me because all other concerns fade into obscurity while I'm 100% focused on the "art of the curve," trying to unravel the intricate beauties of nature. My life seems very empty without that creative release. I also get really bad hand pain and cramping. Using the dop sticks somewhat helps, but I have to still take frequent breaks. Hopefully you're able to find a solution

One day, I'll have live classes- maybe at a bead shop or something.

Totally different though, since I really didn't become a cab maker from a one semester class in high school.

Some number of years. I started making cabs 20 years ago. I didn't start selling until 2 years ago. After making over 1,000 cabs, I lost interest for a while.

Hopefully you're able to find a solution Thanks MsAli . We'll see...I fully intend to keep trying. I've never liked to cut cabs using dops except for final sanding and polishing. But I guess even old dogs can sometimes learn new tricks. And some things in life are worth enduring quite a bit of pain as you obviously know from your own hand issues. I know rockjunquie has some similar pain problems with her cutting and wrapping and I fully expect her to be back at it when her Muse beckons again. I have about 3000 cut cabs on hand if I include fire agates, not to mention a large number of faceted gems. I find that designing jewelry is almost as satisfying as cab-cutting so I'm planning to get my wax bench humming again ASAP. The hand pain may not be as much of an issue doing that. Which reminds me: are you still doing electroforming? I haven't seen any recent updates about it here. How's it going?

I have not done any electroforming for a long time. I have some pieces started, but have not been motivated to set up the tank. Now, it is going to get too cold to do it.

Tela, i will will come over and build you a shed the shed will be made out of slabs, you will be able to pick a slab off the wall and get busy whenever you get inspired. Also in this shed will be a jacuzzi, hot tub, full bar and entertainment center. then as we take the staircase below you will have your own underground mine,of the finest jaspers in the world, just in case you feel like digging. Last and not least, we all love you here so get your ass back at it before we form a mob and come and break down your front door and chain you to your Genie.
Sincerely, the Management

It’s been a long time, too long. Husband has been in and out of the hospital. I visit him daily. I’m worn out. But not completely.
In this very broad rock hobby, I like cabbing and metal smithing and making jewelry; it needs big chunks of time. I cannot do it in a few minutes here and there. We have enough room, but not enough time or energy.
He’s coming home this week; that will help a lot. The pneumonia has zapped his energy, but it will be wonderful having him here sitting across from me and reading the paper and just chatting.
