Pic 1 - George West Texas Petrified Wood. Well, this was in with the pet wood rough from Sabre52! LOL! This was inspired by Tommy since I've seen him do some live edge cabs... So I wanted to try. I love the way it turned out! Pic 2 - Teepee Canyon Agate. I did post this in the Teepee Canyon Agate thread, but I love this cab so much I had to include it with this batch of pictures. Pic 3 - Spotted Jasper. I got this from holajonathan. This never looked anything different from the 500 through the 3000 grit stages and never got beyond a flat matte finish. Jonathan, if you get a better shine, let me know what you did... Pic 4&5 - Ocean Jasper. This was a little disappointing as I couldn't get a gloss finish on this to save my life! There's very minor pitting in the sections next to the yellow. Pic 6-7 - Sonoran Dendritic Rhyolite. I wasn't expecting a glossy shine out of this material...and I called it... Thanks for taking a gander.

Very nice, Jason! Love the live edge. Kudos on that one. The tee pee is awesome.
Sometimes those soft stones just don't wanna take a shine. No matter, they are pretty, too.

Nice! Well done with that live edge cab, I bet that wasn’t easy. I don’t mind a satin finish, it’s only when I know that I can’t get a better shine that it bothers me lol! Thanks my friend! My heart was up in my throat every time that cab touched ANY of the disks! LOL The "satin/matte" finish is frustrating when I don't know whether I SHOULD be getting a better shine. I'm still early enough in my learning of all this stuff, that I don't always know which materials CAN be better than what I've got them to... Very nice, Jason! Love the live edge. Kudos on that one. The tee pee is awesome.
Sometimes those soft stones just don't wanna take a shine. No matter, they are pretty, too. Thanks Robin! I really don't mind the matte finish on any stone...as long as that's really as good as it can get. Just like Noreena, I knew that Rhyolite wasn't likely going to polish...but I really expected a LOT better on that Ocean Jasper... Another great batch! That live edge is fantastic!! Beautiful stone and well-executed! Thanks Brian! I've got a lot of material that calls for a live-edge on a cab (e.g. Teepee Canyon and Crazy Lace). I've been apprehensive...only because I hadn't tried it yet...but now that I've pulled the trigger I won't be as hesitant in the future. Gorgeous! Good job Jason and thanks for the shout-out. Thanks Tommy! I wouldn't have likely tried it had I not seen some of your live-edge cabs. Thank you for the "push"...even if you didn't know you did! LOL

That OJ looks like it's some of the newer stuff that is not quite the same as the original OJ. You got a shine on it, but you could try giving it a buff with Zam to see if it will come up a bit more.

Wow! Amazing work. The first one, especially, is amazing. TeePee, too, but we don’t want that stuff getting too big for its britches, so the others need love, too.
The OJ looks great. I love the structure of the orbs. I haven’t tried zam, but super cerium usually works for me. It does get into pits a bit, and it’s pink, so it’s visible. A good soak in Dawn and light toothbrush scrub tends to do the trick.

Great cabs! Just as an FYI, many of the wood examples from George West are wood casts where the actual internal structure of the wood is not preserved. Essentially, I guess you'd call them jasper- agate or moss agate. Some examples actually resemble Graveyard Plume. Very odd material.

LOVE that raw edge! But, I like the matte, one too. I don't mind a matte finish in certain stones.

I will try to have a talk with the rest of my Teepee preforms later today...let them know they need to leave room in the spotlight for others! LOL Great cabs! Essentially, I guess you'd call them jasper- agate or moss agate. Some examples actually resemble Graveyard Plume. Very odd material. Thanks you so much! Thanks for letting me know about the casts. I never really understood "casts" until you posted this. Makes sense to me now! I knew it wasn't really "pet wood" when I was working it...and moss agate really does seem to fit the look of it. LOVE that raw edge! But, I like the matte, one too. I don't mind a matte finish in certain stones. Thanks Tela! I was actually thinking of you while I was working this piece! As I was nearing completion, I thought, "Crap...how the heck am I going to wire-wrap this piece?!?" And I knew I was going to reach out to you for any suggestions...so...any suggestions? LOL

jasoninsd I would border wrap it as if the gap weren't there and I would use prongs. But, that's just me.

Great cabs, my friend! I'm going with what others have said, that live edge on the first cab really makes a statement. I like it.
