So, I am in love with the looks of this material! I've gotten some pieces of rough off eBay...but have also been gracious to get some pieces from paulshiroma . I did strike a deal with Paul that I'd make a cab (or two) and do a wire-wrap in exchange. I've done some reading up on this material and it is notorious for being difficult to find decent pockets of material. Essentially, there can be a lot of material that isn't usable in the rough. However, if you can find a good pocket, it can produce some amazing cabs! Tonight I was working the material from Paul and I swear there's a Clear Creek curse! LOL - It's not often I have material come off the dop...but I had three pieces come off their dops...and one cab split while on the 220 disk! However, the best looking cab out of the batch made it all the way! Whoot Whoot! Here's some pics of some stuff from Paul and some stuff I had on hand... Pic 1 - Self explanatory heartache pic! LOL Pic 2 - Split cab. The piece shot off the cab like a bullet... thankfully I was wearing my "safety" reading glasses! LOL Pic 3 - The best looking piece out of the material from Paul due to its gem-like look. This is one I'd like to wrap for him. There is some undercutting...which is pretty norm for this material as it's a mix of different minerals. Pic 4 - Another piece from Paul's material. It's "nice" but not as gorgeous as #3...IMHO. Pic 5 - This was a piece that I had on hand. It contains Cinnabar...so I didn't lick it! LOL - Still some undercutting... I think they all look better in person! LOL

Nice! Yes, it's problematic material, but when it's good; it's very good.

Nice! Yes, it's problematic material, but when it's good; it's very good. Thanks Tela! Although...I just looked at the pictures of these on the laptop, and the pics really do make these look worse than compared to how they look in-person. I have yet to work any that doesn't undercut...have you ever worked some that doesn't undercut to some degree?

I think I got it on eBay, but it might have been from Tommy. I only had a few cabs worth- sadly. I think it's the real stringy looking stuff you want to avoid. The stringers really undercut.

I like what you did with these. I've only worked a few cabs of Plasma and I really do like it but since I finish my cabs in the tumbler I've had a lot of issues with undercutting as well. That cab in the third pic is very eye-catching...

I've never seen this material in person. The nice looking slabs and rough are quite expensive, it seems. Your cabs have a nice modern art look to them. The patterns in pic 3 are great, almost like picasso marble but better. And the colors in pic 5 are nice also. Did you say something about cinnabons?

That cab in the third pic is very eye-catching... Thanks Mike! I think it was one of your cabs that first got me "introduced" to this material...so once again, something's "your" fault! LOL Nice cabs, Jason! The third one is really cool, but so it the blue one. Thanks Robin! That third one really does look cool...and even better in person...with one eye closed and squinting with the other! LOL - Just kidding...I really do love that third one. I've seen it vary in price...and I'm assuming that has to do with the amount of matrix versus the "good stuff" contained in the rough. I've also seen some pieces that seem less of a conglomerate and more of a solid rock. So, I'm not sure how much this material varies... And OMG! A Cinnabon would be SO delicious right now!!!

Late to this party! These are coming out beautiful! I've got a few slabs and halves on the vibe laps now but it it taking longer than usual at each stage. Love the work, Jason!

You can try coating the cab surface with the super thin super glue to deter the stringy phenomenon. Thin sand and polish

I've got a couple more dopped and ready to go...just took a break from cabbing so I could slab some material today. You can try coating the cab surface with the super thin super glue to deter the stringy phenomenon. Thin sand and polish Thanks for posting this Tom. I've thought about it...and it may come to that. I do know I'll want to label it as "stabilized" if I do this...

3 and 5 are amazing. I’ve heard it’s not easy to work, but I’ve never gotten my hands on any, so I have no personal experience.

I'm not too sure what the draw is with regards to the Cinnabar, but anytime I see a chunk that has it, I tend to get a little excited about it! 3 and 5 are amazing. I’ve heard it’s not easy to work, but I’ve never gotten my hands on any, so I have no personal experience. Thanks Stephan! Dang...if I had known that, I would've put a preform or two into the last box!
