Why would they go to so much work for a rocky hillside? They must have enjoyed their work!

Notice how they built around the existing rock.

With lots of time, they could build a wall at the lowest level. allow erosion to fill to the wall, then build the higher wall, allow fill, repeat, repeat, repeat.

They built these niches everywhere. Were they just a brief respite from wind and rain?

According to Helmut Tributsch the Inca used a red sulfuric acid mud Derived from there mining of pyrite This soften the ignegious rocks Such as an andesites & rhyolites ect. .., Butte not gneiss And the Inca were more prolific at smelting metals then we know. They were just wise enough or lucky enough not to craft them into arms such are ancient pals on the other side of the world nonetheless- bronze tools and/or acid and we been through this is before there were Giants in those day Now whether they were actually physical Giants, Aliens, or from some super natural realm; we stand on the shoulders of giants so lets grow up & start acting like it ha ha

With lots of time, they could build a wall at the lowest level. allow erosion to fill to the wall, then build the higher wall, allow fill, repeat, repeat, repeat. This provided areas for growing crops. Long before the Inca, there were great farmers on the mountain tops - people with huge lung capacity that preferred high places. mohs the Inca worked gold and silver, but didn't seem to have much interest in copper and bronze. That was the work of the people that went before. Bronze in Bolivia about the same time Bronze was discovered in Asia - Now there is an interesting connection!

Might be a deep connection dave
Seem all we can do is speculate & do the research
Yet mohs as no idea how –whoever- created those magnificent structures
suppose science says that mankind were working rocks for eons They knew their rock were one with it,,,
carry on !
