Today we made the decision to have Cat put down. He's about 15 years young, but has been battling kidney failure and hyperthyroidism. He has been in rapid decline the last few days. He's refusing food and water and cries when you pick him up. He only wants to sit outside on the bench. We can't stand to see him like this. Without food, he can't take his medicine. Without the medicine, Doc says he will have a splitting migraine. So sad. He's a gentle soul and we will miss him a lot.

Thank you, I'm really bummed. He was my buddy. He's so thin now, it hurts to look at him.

I'm sorry, Tela. It's a hard decision that in some situations like yours, must be done. We love our kitties, and our kitties love us.

So sorry for your loss, Tela. I know the pain you went through to make that decision, had to do that for my 21+ year old cat. She also had kidney failure.
If we could only help our hoomans out the same way, instead of allowing them to suffer.
Hugs, Tela.

Thank you so much, y'all. It's gonna be a long day. It's nice to know people care. We do love our pets. Knowing that he picked US to live with, makes me happy. He was happy here and we gave him the best years of his life. I guess that's all you can ask for.

Sorry to hear about Cat, Tela. Cat was a pretty one. Our 15-year old is battling hyperthyroidism, too, and it is hard to see them get so thin.

Tela, my heart goes out to you and your family right now. As others have stated, it was the right decision...no matter the emotional cost. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

I hate when we have to make the hard decision. I'm so sorry, Tela. I know the feeling well and it sucks. Just remember that Cat is thanking you and will see you at the Rainbow Bridge someday. It's always such a battle with ourselves when we know it's the right thing to do, but we don't want to let go. Our furry family's quality of life always trumps our own pain though. Always.

That pulls at my heart rockjunquie. I'm almost unwilling to get the new dog my wife longs for because it's just so painful when they pass. I still mourn a number of previous pets, both cats and dogs, and was suffering a pang of sadness just today, thinking about having to put our beloved Weimaraner Gertrude down some time back. A good little German dog she was and I miss her as much as our wonderful Irish setter Clancy. My sympathies!

It was shocking to see how quickly he got thin in the last week. I was always afraid a neighbor would call animal control on us. He was wobbly and ghastly thin.

Thank you. It is hard. We had to put Jazz down, too, a few years back, but she was 25. I had hoped he would live as long. Those years on the streets were hard.

Sorry for you Tela. It's good that he will no longer be in pain, but the loss of our closest companions is tough.

I had a forever dog in Florida, who was my best fishing buddy. She sat patiently with me waiting for a bite. As soon as my pole showed some sign of action, she got all excited because she knew I would probably give it to her. (the small croaker) I can't go fishing without thinking of her.
