I mentioned that I fell off the spending wagon and bought some cabs. Like I don't have enough, right?
I went to two sellers on Etsy that I have always liked. Greg's Cabochons and 49erminerals. Greg has a good selection. I don't know how he sells so cheap, but hey, I'm buying- so good for me. I got a bunch of them from him and then against my better judgement went to check out 49ermineral. They always have a ton that I want. They get pricey. Not because they are expensive, but because they have some rich stuff.
Greg's Cabochons No way can I cab this at his price. Love it. Nice Rhodonite is getting so hard to find.
Big dryhead agate for a small price. Something I've never seen before from private lands in PA. Copper in rhyolite. A nice metallic - Niccolite and silver. I have some niccolite/nickelite/nickeline but not in quartz. Looks a lot like Josephine's Crown. ( perkins17) A prudent man agate- just because. I paid 64 for all of those. Can't beat that with a stick! 49erminerals always sends a handful of nice freebies, but I didn't get pics of those. Several earring pairs, which is nice.
This is what sucked me in. Amazing!!! This is different shades of chrysocolla with some darker shattuckite from Tyrone, New Mexico. I love this.
Flowering tube lace onyx because I love it and it was a good price. And a lapis that was priced right, too. OK, so that was the good and the gooder. Now, for the bad. I got a very small piece of bone, enough for a cab, on eBay. It was yellow. I offered him a price and made the deal. Picture from the ad. The description says yellow and red.
This is what I got and I have to say the pictures are generous.
Yes, it is going right back.
I'm hoping that I won't be tempted to buy anymore cabs anytime soon.
And NO. I have never sold a cab made by someone else and claimed it as mine. NEVER. I would hate for someone to do that to me, so I have never done it.

Not fair. That needed a bib warning!
That is some amazing stuff. Great prices, too. Love that rhodonite and Dryhead. Those two alone would've been worth the price.
Bummer about the bone. I've got some that color, and it makes decent cabs, but it was part of an estate purchase, not something I specifically bought, advertised as being a completely different color.
I think I speak for everyone in saying we're not surprised that you would never pass someone else's work off as your own. Hmm. What would you call the lapidary equivalent of plagiarism?

You did get some excellent cabs, I'll be waiting (im)patiently for the wraps!
Not cool at all about the bone, I could see why you'd want to purchase it from the picture...

Sorry about the drool.
I don't know what it would be called besides dishonest.
I was buying from Greg and his wife, Sarah, when they first hit Etsy. They were even cheaper and had even better stuff. Greg is a speed demon! The backs are finished, too. Anyway- early on someone ratted him out to Etsy saying there was no way that he was working alone. They were so flummoxed! They had to PROVE to Etsy that he worked alone. That was rotten for someone to do, but I guess he was stiff competition. I know I couldn't sell for what he does. I know his father left him a yard full of old stock goodies, so he wasn't buying at current prices.

You did good, Tela! Love the stones you bought. Fie on that fleabayer! I'd send it back, too. I contacted him. He says start a return. I went to do that and eBay says this seller doesn't accept returns. I sent him a screenshot of it. He says that's ok, just send it and I'll look out for it. Uh, no way am I paying for this shit. So, I did an official eBay return for being wrongly represented. So, now HE pays for the return. I mean, why would I trust him after that?
