Here are some I acquired quite a few years ago. I need to do something with them.

Here’s another photo with a size reference. That looks like a hole Alice would climb in

Dude! Those are awesome! I'm ashamed to say that I'm afraid to cut mine. Maybe one day I'll get a flat lap and polish them. Yours are specimen worthy.

rockjunquie They’re definitely cab worthy. I’m chicken to cut them because I know how rare this stuff is. I’ll have to dig out an old cab I cut to post photos.

rockjunquie We were just born at the wrong time. Can you imagine collecting this stuff yourself? I was able to collect some garnets at the right time.

Starguy - Brent...these are even nicer than I was imagining! I would honestly have a REALLY hard time touching that big slab on the left. Not that the two on the right are "shabby" by any means...but that one on the left just has SO much going on!

jasoninsd They’re all true Biggs Junction jasper. The one on the left is the one that I traded garnet for. The blue ones may be rarer. I’m old. I guess I should start cabbing.

I've come back several times to look at these slabs! LOL I'm not a "specimen" collector...except Fairburns -LOL- However, I don't know if I could even touch that bottom blue slab or the one on the left - I'd likely keep those for specimens. The top one has already been cut into, so I'd probably use that one for cab fodder...

They look like Deschutes to me , but Blue Biggs or Deschutes it's only a name. The cure for not wanting to cut into a slab, is buying more of the material. The pattern on the large slab is the best slab pattern. I care more about the preform patterns and would rather work with the two smaller slabs. I like Blue Mountain but most slab patterns are too large to make nice preforms.

stardiamondI think Deschutes and Biggs junction are the same. I may be wrong. It’s too bad that material is no longer available.

It may not be dug anymore but it is available. The challenge is not having to open your wallet to wide. I have a formula for what I will pay for a slab based on what I can sell the cabs for. I can still find affordable slabs. There is a lot of overlap in appearance. Classic Blue Biggs Classic Deschutes

Beautiful slabs, Starguy! I probably wouldn't touch the two complete slabs, but the one with the saw cuts already in it would be cabbed for sure!
