Headed down to Nether's farm in Ohio tomorrow. Too late for advice regarding what to bring. (I'm taking a ton of tools -- hammers, chisels, a shovel, rake, leaf blower, pump sprayer, etc) Does anyone who has been there have any advice about how / where to dig and chisel out the nicest cutting rough? I have read that you have to go deep to get the colorful stuff. I'm not sure if that means go to a pit and dig deeper, or dig into the "walls." Maybe this will be obvious to me once I'm there. Any last minute advice would be appreciated!

I know somebody who was there a few years ago and he got all of his multicoloured rock from the edges of the digging. Whoever was their prior tossed them aside, probably because they wanted flint for knapping. He didn't have to break bedrock.

Hi! I was just there last weekend. You might run into some rain, but heck, it’ll make digging easier! Make sure you have some kind of eye protection in addition to the stuff you listed. Sturdy boots, gloves, and knee protection would make you even more comfortable as you dig and hack away. In the bottoms of some of the pits there are lots of layers with quartz crystal vugs. Be safe, have a blast, and don’t forget to bring cash to pay Mrs. Nethers!
