I brought a Diamond Pacific 50-T last fall and I have had both 25T barrel fail in this past month, on ly a year old. They both failed with the “roller” is bolted onto the both of the barrel. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts if they could be saved, Some ideas: 1. Put a layer on around 1/2 “ of epoxy in the bottom of the inside 2. Put a lid gasket between the bottom and the bolt on “roller”. 3. Any other thoughts? Maybe I should even add a lid gasket on the bottom of my new barrels which should be on the way. jamesp I value your input on this. I wish I could make the barrels which you are now making, but don’t think I can, for another big tumbler. David

Wish I could help David. I have no experience with those hex barrels. Covington makes a similar 40 pound barrel.

HI, I Just joined this after I saw your post. I have the same problem and I am wondering if you have found any solution to patching the bottom. I will try the rubber gasket idea if I can find some material. I am also trying to source some rubber to use for this. I have 3 25 lb barrels that will wear out but my 65 lb barrel has already and if the rubber works I might as well make my own gaskets. Thanks for any ideas!

I make new gaskets out of the shower liner you can buy in the tile section at Home Depot, it comes in 6 foot widths and can make quite a few gaskets, set it on a piece of plywood and lay the lid on the liner, mark it out and punch the bolt holes out with an empty 223 round.

Good advice Tony. I’m doing a tile job right now, the pvc liner is tough. You can also use edpm roofing, rubber roofing. Both are very durable.

I was able to to stop the leaking with a temporary rubber gasket so I will try making my own gaskets and think it may be easiest for me to just order a similar type of neoprene rubber sheet if available. Does anyone know what the rubber is that comes with the diamond pacific barrels? Also, has anyone tried to fill or glue a patch to the inside of these types of barrels to keep the plastic from getting a hole in the first place?

Edpm is a thick rubber roofing, it’s held down with contact cement. It would probably work
