Those are some fantastic looking finds! The first rock picture is very cool. It looks sort of like a thunderegg that got swallowed by a prairie agate. The 4th rock pic is also pretty cool. Is that mossy? I can't quite tell in the photo, but it is certainly unique.

I like #3 the best but you found some nice pieces Thanks so much! I really like them all...but I think I'm leaning toward that brecciated Jasper as my favorite. That's a VERY unusual find for out here. Nice my friend! All day long at work all I could think of was what a great day it would be to be out hounding... Glad you took advantage! Thanks my friend! I thought about you a couple times today. I was just practicing on and off today for when I found a Fairburn...which NEVER happened! LOL - Someone found a nice one yesterday (and big!). I found a couple Fairburn Signers, but there wasn't anything inside when I cut them this evening. gneiss strol jase long view can't explain the geology buute the badlands have lot in common w/ the painted desert hope to visit one for the first time and other for another time keep on! Thanks Ed! You should see the picture of The Badlands I posted in the Pic of the Day thread! Anytime you want to wander up this direction, let me know and I can show you all over the Buttes! (Let me rephrase that...anytime there's "good" weather! LOL) Sounds great! Today was freezing and rainy here. Hounding season is officially over here I think. Dang Perk! It's turning cold and rainy (most likely snowy) this weekend. ARGHH! - Never say never! I hounded last winter off and on when it warmed up "just enough"! Those are some fantastic looking finds! The first rock picture is very cool. It looks sort of like a thunderegg that got swallowed by a prairie agate. The 4th rock pic is also pretty cool. Is that mossy? I can't quite tell in the photo, but it is certainly unique. Thanks Brian! It does look like a ThunderPrairieAgateEgg love-child! LOL I wish I found something with some moss in it...but no...none of these did. (I really wished I found something with Fairburn fortifications...but I didn't! LOL)

Oh yeah, you picked up some nice ones. That first one is spectacular! Thanks Tela! I reckon there could be some decent cabs out of that one. Found a Fairburn? No picture? No..no...not me! If I was the one who found it, it would have been the first thing getting posted! LOL My wife showed me a pic on the FB Fairburn page of one someone found yesterday...

Jason, nice haul! Hold that cold weather over there for a few more weeks 😜 Thanks Nate! Of course they've changed the weather forecast once again...now we've got a stretch supposed to be in the high 50s again for a week. I'll check it again tomorrow...maybe it'll change to something in the 80s! LOL

jasoninsdThose are really nice. I'll say it again... why so little love for the humble prairie agate? The first one and the brecciated jasper are amazing. The last one does look just like Nether's Farm flint.

Nice stuff. Do the agates have a specific name, based on locality?

Nice stuff. Do the agates have a specific name, based on locality? As far as I know, they're all categorized with the very commonplace name of "Prairie Agate"...I've never heard of them being differentiated in any way due to locale... I think they should be...because some Prairie Agates are actually jasper...and others are actually chert...and not actually agates.

I love the Prairie. Those finds are spectacular. Thanks for sharing. Thanks so much! When I was taking the pictures, I was thinking to myself how I NEVER tire of seeing the views I can see from out there.
