I'm looking at both of these saws and wondering if anyone can offer any insight into which might offer an advantage over the other functionally nad/or in terms of build quality and manufacturer support.

For a 10" saw, I would try to find a belt-driven unit. It's easy to replace a generic 1/3 HP motor if it croaks.

Lortone all the way. Vastly better build quality, with parts that are standard industrial hardware. And was previously mentioned, belt drive with a stand alone motor is way cheaper to replace than needing a proprietary, direct drive assembly.
