Kim: I'd agree, it appears to be dendritic opalite or agate maybe from Austraila but it's found all over. We have a nice black and white type here in Calif. There is an opaque brown form called Sagebrush Jasper from several areas in Wyoming also.

I've got some dendritic opalite (or at least I've seen it listed as such), but it doesn't have that fine, feathery texture. Well, probably comes in many grades.

Rolligstone: I have a piece that is a dead ringer for your pic too, from Australia but I've also seen some from there with well defined feathery tree formations. Seems to be a lot of different dendritic opal and agate worldwide. Some incredible specimens are coming out of Turkey now.

cher the white part is opaque and the darker part surrounding it is translucent.
stoner and rollingstone those are great looking.
