I've been trying to take decent pics of some Labradorite Ipicked up recently, and I'll be darned if I can get the irredescence to show up! It's some great stuff, with lots of deep blues and greens. Labradorite has to be one of my favs. Right up there with Jasper as far as really cool stuff.

I really like that Labradite. Don't have any in my collection, but have always wanted a piece. Is it similar to Opal? Great looking stuff. Steve

Kim:Wowser! That's a nice slab. I agree with fatriche. I always mess up that stuff when I try to cab it. Never seem to get the dern orientation right for a consistent play of color.
Steve: It's in the felspar group I believe .

I fell in love with Labradorite. It's really hard to slab and not get alot of waste. I'm just nipping off small sections and trying to get the largest amount of flash that I can!
I have 4 HUGE chunks right now. I got one to barely fit on my saw and cut a 3" piece to work with. I'm saving the rest for when I get a larger saw. Gosh it's a beautiful material! I just love your slab! It takes a great polish! Are you going to cab it or leave it as a specimen?

Neat rainbow colors Kim. Wonder where I got the idea that labradorite was black.
