its a very thin slab but I’m trying to dome it some. still needs sanding and polish material is nice and hard. I don’t know how Jason & Co, and TelaFormosa, do 25 cabs a day. But I really enjoy just slowly working this thin piece and praying it doesn’t break, lol

Evan, I LOVE that shape and am quite envious, because I can't do that inside swoop on my slant cabber (flat lap). If you were referring to me doing a ton of cabs in a day, it isn't really so. I usually work in batches rather than one at a time. If it's a really hard material, like this Tiffany, or Prairie Agates...or most Mexican Lace Agates, it takes almost an hour (sometimes) just to get the initial grind done on one. So, it may take me all day just to do the initial grinds on a batch of 10 cabs. Then, I can usually finish those up the next day...if I take my time in the 220 soft stage...which makes the rest of the stages go far easier and faster. If it's softer material, it may only take me 10 minutes to do the initial grind on each one. Then I could do a batch in a day... I must be a glutton for punishment because I dopped 15 Laguna Lace preforms and was going to do them all in one batch. However, I changed my mind and dopped some Dino Bone, Picasso Marble, and Ocean Jasper...that way I can do 5 hard pieces, followed by some softer pieces just to have a break from the hard grinding.

That's looking real good! I love purple! I think my record was 17, never 25. Besides, you'll get there.

I believe the main thing is you're enjoying working that beautiful cab. That is what's important 👍

You’re exactly right, experience will help me know when to go aggressive/chippy and when it’s time to move up a wheel. I still have 1 sic wheel on the Holiday grinder and, even when dressed, it put a bit of hop in my machine. So I’m definitely in the growing and dreaming stages. I usually work 1-3 cabs at a time since 1 only cab seriously after the kids are in bed. So time is very limited.

I have to cab when I have a day to do it- otherwise it doesn't make sense to drag Gene out. You're doing good, Evan. That swoop can be a b*ll breaker.

Ah well. The purple is quite dark on this one. A good light makes it pop.

hummingbirdstonesthank you! It is with me at work today and the picture shows how thin it is. I do actually have a dome on it. I only have 280 grit soft wheel, so now it’s the loto, or wait for my diamond to get here so I can do 600, 1200, 3000. It will be here Saturday. I can’t wait!

I'm excited for you...I can't wait to see the pictures of the newly unboxed early X-mas present.

It took a nice shine but I refused to put it in the Loto, so when I get my diamond wheels set up I might repolish it.
The customer is very satisfied and happy with it! This is her picture.

That is gorgeous. I'm sure it took a lot of patience and concentration to pull off such a large, thin cab.
